About the county

Organized 1818

Madison County is governed by a three-member County Commission — a presiding commissioner and two district commissioners — alongside a set of independently elected offices. The county seat is Fredericktown.

Most offices share the 1899 courthouse on Courthouse Square and are reached through its main line by extension. The Sheriff, Coroner, and commissioners have their own numbers. See the office directory below for each office’s extension or direct line.
